Ibrahim said the poor crowd turnout at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori summed up the first major championship of the new season despite the low ticket price.#The best turnout was witnessed on day one as the numbers decreased in the remaining two days. #“There is no doubt that the 2012 Pillay Garments Champions League was a flop in terms of revenue. As far as the performance is concerned we believe the teams performed really well. I would like to thank the players and team officials for their hard work,” Ibrahim said. #“Four top teams (Ba, Rewa, Labasa and Suva) in Fiji participated in the event and the ticket price was very reasonable but despite that the turnout by the fans did not meet our expectation. There could be various factors that could have affected the Champions League. Maybe it is too early to start the season or maybe people are finding difficulties as the new school year is about to start.” #The Fiji FA acting president also said the format of the Pillay Garments Champions League was also something which needed to be relooked at. #“I believe we also need to relook at the format for next season. Teams playing three 90 minutes matches in three days was a bit difficult. Maybe the old format of home and away suited best but these things need to be discussed for next year’s event.”#“We have a very busy 2012 schedule with a lot of international commitments and that is why we had to complete the Champions League early.”#With the conclusion of the Pillay Garments Champions League the 2012 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League will be the next Fiji FA competition. # # Fiji FA MEDIA # #
