Ba defender Avinesh Waran Suwamy fired a powerful shot in the 5oth minute from around 35 yards to score the opening goal of the match which proved to the match winning one. #Both sides are gunning to bag the first major championship of the new season and the clash marked a perfect opener of the year. #Suva’s new signings former Tavua striker Jonas Naceva and Nadi defender Semi Rokoqica made their debut for the capital side. #Last Sunday both sides had equal number of opportunities to score but failed to capitalise. #Suva goalie Emori Ragata made some good saves as both sides went in the break 0-0. #Ba started the second half strongly while Suva seemed too struggled but maintained their defence line. #Suva was reduced to 10-men late in the second half as Sameula Vula was given the marching orders by referee Andrew Achari for his second caution. #Ba coach Yogendra Dutt said a win in the first leg of the two match series is a positive move towards their campaign to retain the Champions League title. #“The win should take away some pressure of the team. I’m satisfied with the performance of the team,” Dutt told Sunsports. #Suva coach Gurjit Singh said fitness is something which concerns him. #“One goal does not make a lot of difference and our main concern is that we will work on is the fitness of the players.
