Behari off to World Cup

Local referees continue to break into major international competition. #Ravinesh Kumar became the first Fijian to officiate at the 2012 Olympic Games and school teacher Finau Vulivuli last season earned her place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany. #For Behari the Futsal World Cup will not be a totally new ball game as he had officiated in the 2008 event. #Following in his father Suresh Behari’s footstep who also was a FIFA referee has been a perfect inspiration.#Bob Kumar, the Fiji FA chief executive officer said the appointment of one of our referees at the FIFA Futsal World Cup was a pleasing sign. #“On behalf of the Fiji FA family and President Rajesh Patel we would like to wish Amitesh Behari the best for the Futsal World Cup. It is indeed pleasing for Fiji FA as our referees are continuing to break into the international stage.”Kumar said. #“This goes to show the hard work put in by our referees and in the end what reward is at stake. Amitesh officiated at the last Futsal World Cup and made us all proud and we hope for a similar outing from him this year.”#Behari started officiating competitive futsal matches in 1995 after being inspired by his dad who at that time was a FIFA futsal assistant referee. #He said memories of the last FIFA Futsal World Cup are still fresh. #“Match between Libya and Spain at the FIFA Futsal World Cup is the best match that I have ever refereed,” he said. #Oceania region will be represented by the Solomon Islands side which won the playoffs at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last year. #Fustal World Cup will take place in Thailand from November 1 -18, 2012. # Fiji FA MEDIA#
