Fiji gears up for Solomon’s

The Intiaz Khan coached side left the country last Sunday to participate in what will be only their second ever international beach soccer competition. In 2009 during their debut appearance the national side lost all their matches but Khan believes the past must be buried and says the aim is to better their previous performance.#He is aware of the task his side faces tomorrow morning against a rugged Solomon’s outfit which has qualified for the last four FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup competitions. #A total of nine players will be making their debut for the Fiji beach soccer side. Only three survivors from the 2009 event include skipper Beniamino Mateinaqara, Sandeep Nair and Shalen Buisena. #“Fiji is going in this playoffs as underdogs and our aim is to do something better than what we did last time. Our first game against Solomon’s is a vital one for us and this is where we can gauge our performance to see what needs to be done.#“I have full faith in my players and I believe that if we click then we can expect something special during these playoffs,” Khan said.#Fiji, Solomon’s and hosts Tahiti are the three participating teams at the playoffs. The format sees the playoffs being played on a round robin basis following which the top two teams will face off in the final. # FIJI FA MEDIA
