Tarunesh Reddy the national team director/Fiji FA vice president said majority of the players that were part of the Puma Fiji Olympians side at the 2012 OFC London Olympics games playoffs will be part of senior national squad. #The Olympic playoffs concluded last Sunday at Owen Deleany Park in Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Our national side lost 0-1 to New Zealand in the final. #Reddy said the players needed to be applauded for their effort. #“We should have qualified. The side was just one step away from a ticket to London Olympic Games. Fiji matched NZ in every area of the game and we were just unlucky not to score and they got a penalty. But nonetheless the boys did very well and gave their best for the country and with these outing I’m sure we are not very far from achieving our #dream,” Reddy said. #Juan Carlos Buzzetti has been selected to coach the national senior men’s side. He will be assisted by Imdad Ali the national U23 coach and assistant coach Kamal Samy. #“Carlos will coach the national senior side and he will be assisted by Imdad and Kamal. We will bring half of the U23 players in the senior national squad which will also be a means to further develop them.”#At the OFC men’s Nations Cup, Fiji is in Group A alongside New Zealand All Whites, Solomon Island and Papua New Guinea. #Reddy said the national senior squad would be announced in the next few weeks. #“I would like to thank the Olympian squad members once again for all their hard work.
