Greetings to all #It is indeed a pleasure to share a thought in this weekly column since my journey as the new Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) President began last Wednesday night.#On this note I would like to thank all the districts, delegates and the Fiji FA board members with whose support I was elected along with the other sitting members – Sheik Ibrahim (Northern Vice-President), Yogeshwar Singh (Southern Vice-President), two new Vice Presidents Jiten Kumar and Tarunesh Reddy. #My job has been made easier with the tremendous support and backing that I have from the various district affiliates and delegates. It is our duty now to prove our worth so that they do not lose faith in us and that we work towards the betterment of football in Fiji. #My work had started on the night I was elected in as the Fiji FA President. #The first task now is to call a board of control meeting. #It is important to draw up a plan of how we are going to about with our work. In this meeting the board members will be given a portfolio each. Each member will be looking after their respective area and we will make sure that the work is reviewed. #A important matter in this meeting will also be three national side’s (Men’s- 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers; Women’s senior- Olympic games qualifiers; U23 men’s- Olympic games qualifiers) which will be participating in their respective playoffs next year. #And then the idea of including 12 teams in the Super Premier competition also needs to be discussed with the various mechanisms on how two more teams will be accommodated. #As we progress I have not ruled out the idea of moving to franchise based competition locally. This indeed will make the competitions stronger here with the best players playing against the best players. This will be huge for development of football and perfect way to rake in more revenue for the franchises. #A huge part of my plan is to also market the Fiji FA brand locally and overseas. Various Fiji FA merchandise will be sold and made available to the fans. #With these words as I say sign off for this week, my humble request for the football loving fans it is to have patience and faith in us. There is a change at Fiji FA and very soon we will reap the rewards of the hard work that is going to be put in. #The vision is to put Fiji Football on the world map as one of the genuine football nations and we will be giving our hundred percent to see our target achieved. #Thank You. #
