Fiji FA President’s Message

Greetings to all#First of all I would like to wish everyone a happy and meaningful new year as we get ready to commence the 2011 football season.#The Champions League which was formerly known as the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series kicks off the promising 2011 season which indeed will be a very full and eventful one for Fiji Football Association.#Looking at this year the senior men’s and women’s team will be participating in the Pacific Games in New Caledonia. Futsal, beach soccer and the U-20 team battling to earn a spot in this relevant FIFA World Cup event.#With a lot at stake I’m sure the Champions League is a perfect start to the season as this is a chance for players vying for a spot in the National side to prove themselves to be an obvious choice for selection. The current top four local districts Ba, Lautoka, Rewa and Navua will be battling for the first major championship of the year which will be played over the next few weeks. The four participating teams have earned their right to participate with the deserving performance in 2010. #I would like to thank our sponsors Pillay Garments who have continued their wonderful support towards this prestigious event. We are indeed grateful to its managing director Mr. Narendra Pillay for his personal effort and support to contribute with the wonderful sponsorship. #As I have stated before that Fiji FA cannot survive on its own and needs the support of sponsors to last in this hard economic climate. Pillay Garments has proved that they are genuinely interested in the development of football in Fiji and would like to see it prosper.#My best wishes goes to the players, administrators and team officials who have worked overtime to see their teams ready for the 2011 Champions League.#Needless to say at the end there will be a only one winner of the tournament with grace. I urge on all the other teams to accept defeat and with grace show good sportsmanship all the other the teams to accept defeat and show good sportsmanship.#To our football loving fans and supporters of the teams we need your support and prayers to make this event a successful one. Thank you for the support over these years.#May God Bless All.#Thank You.
