Women honoured

Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Acting president Sheik Ibrahim said that the idea was to honour the national women’s side at the Pacific Games which saw them finish third overall with a bronze medal. #Ibrahim believes the women’s side need to be encouraged as they focus for the Olympic Games playoffs which will be held in Fiji next year. #“We are developing a very young women’s squad and for them to finish third at the Pacific Games is an achievement for us,” Ibrahim said. #“Our task now is to set the right platform for them so that they can further progress. The women’s Olympic Games playoffs will be held next year and these young girls need to given all the encouragement possible for them to excel. Fiji FA hosted them for a dinner function as this is one way we could have shown our appreciation.”# Present at the function were Fiji FA board of control members Ibrahim, Rajesh Patel, Anil Sharma, Yogeshwar Singh, Shashi Bhindi, Dewan Chand, Susan Wise, chief executive officer Bob Kumar, competitions manager Jainendra Sukhu, Suva FA president Mahen Prasad, Nadroga FA secretary Amit Chand and Fiji FA staffs. #National team director Anil Sharma was also full of praise for the national women’s side achievement at the 2011 Pacific Games. #FASANOC president Vidhya Lakhan was the guest speaker at the function. # Fiji FA MEDIA #
