Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Futsal Commission Chairman and Southern vice- president Anil Sharma says the decision was reached at the last Fiji FA board of control meeting in Ba earlier this month.#The likes of Oceania futsal champions Solomon’s, various nations from the Pacific region and Australian and New Zealand clubs are expected to participate. #And Sharma reveals that a new National futsal coach will be appointed soon to take over from former coach Hussain Sahib who has now been given charge of the National U-17 side. #The chairman says the Fiji FA Futsal Commission will meet later this month to decide on their next plan of action.#“It was decided during the BOC meeting that a National Futsal squad to participate in the Australian National Futsal Championship. Scott Gilligan the OFC Futsal project manager has highly recommended Fiji to participate,” Sharma said.#“The Fiji FA futsal commission will be meeting some time this month to decide on the mechanisms for the upcoming championship in Australia. I will also be recommending a new National Futsal coach and I’m not ruling out an overseas expert”. #Sharma says the Australian National Futsal championship will be an ideal part of their preparation as they gear up for the 2011 OFC FIFA Futsal World Cup playoffs which will be held sometime later next year. #“Fiji FA is serious about the Futsal code and our focus is now towards the 2011 OFC Futsal World Cup qualifiers. This is a golden opportunity for us to qualify for a World Cup and we will be working towards that,” he said. #The National futsal side earlier this year finished second behind overall champions Solomon Islands at the OFC Futsal Championship which was held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. #Fiji FA MEDIA
