Mr. Atma Ram originally hailed from Ba and in his young days represented the Nadroga football side. He passed away on Thursday night at the Lautoka Hospital.#“The Fiji FA family is saddened by the news of the sudden passing away of Ramesh’s father. Our prayers and support goes towards Mr. Ramesh Sharma and his family,” Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Bob Kumar said.#Coach Sharma says his father was a major inspiration in his life.#“My dad was very supportive towards my involvement in football. For the past 20 years I have been involved with Fiji FA in various activities and he always was by my side. He was really looking forward for me to coach the National Women’s side at the OFC Women’s Nations Cup,” Sharma said. #The 2010 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Women’s Nations Cup starts on Wednesday at North Harbour Stadium in New Zealand with the National side departing on Sunday. #Fiji FA Technical Director Saiyad Ali says the National side will travel to NZ without their coach who will join the side later. #“It was sad to hear about the passing away and our support is with Ramesh in these times. We have decided to give Ramesh some time off and since Fiji play their first match in the Nations Cup on Thursday. Ramesh will be joining the team on Tuesday,” Ali said.#Fiji plays their first match of the OFC Women’s Nations Cup against Papua New Guinea next week Thursday at 1pm. #
