Refresher course in Suva

The course which was held at the new Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa targeted the 11 Suva based schools instructors who went through the first training phase of the Just Play programme last year.

“Children will have the ability to enhance their knowledge and skills with these kinds of programmes,” he said.
Yasir Janiff, the Fiji FA Just Play programme manager said the female turnout at the course has added further strength to the programme.
“A positive move in this course was to see the participation by the female teachers which was almost 50% of the total number of participants. This has really showed great motivation by female teachers to actively involve into football coaching programmes,” Janiff said.
Instructors delivered a basic football coaching philosophy, methodology of training practice and how football will be used as a social tool to educate children in various aspect such as healthy lifestyle.
“The level of interest, participation increased as the course progressed during the practical sessions. Participants felt confident at the end of second day during the Mini Just Play festival with children in organising small sided games, football learning skills drills and handling children on a large scale.”
