Usenio Logaivau, the national women’s side head coach said Ligavola has failed to recover from a knee injury.
Ligavola was part of the national women’s side which participated at the 2010 Oceania Football Confederation Women’s Nations Cup.
“I can confirm that Kurukaba Ligavola has now been replaced. She had a knee injury and we were hoping she will recover in time for the Pacific Games. I had left her out of the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants and recent international test against Samoa as she was one of the key members of the squad. But the medical review proved otherwise and so we had to consider a replacement.
“Kini Ravai will replace Kurukaba now in the 20-member squad. Kini was part of the initial extended squad. She is an experienced player and I’m sure she will make step up to the challenge,” Logaivau said.
The national senior men’s and women’s side depart the country for New Caledonia today.
