Champions League starts Sunday

The four participants Lautoka, Ba, Navua and the delta tigers Rewa side will be out to snatch the first major title of the new season.

Two matches will be played at Govind Park this Sunday. The official launch of the Champions League takes place 1.30pm and at 2pm Lautoka battles Rewa. Later at 4pm home team Ba face arch rivals Navua.
The new Champions League replaces the Pillay Garments Champion vs. Champion series which Lautoka won last season. The competition concludes on February 11 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Kumar believes the new Pillay Garments Champions League marks a promising start to the 2011 season.
“Pillay Garments Champions League will officially kick-off the 2011 season. The current top four teams in the country will be participating and that itself should make things interesting to see who comes out on top.
“We have a very busy season ahead of us and the Pillay Garments Champions League should set a perfect platform for the remainder of the season,” Kumar said.
The Fiji FA CEO thanked sponsors Pillay Garments Managing Director Narendra Pillay.
“On behalf of the Fiji FA and President Dr. Muhammed Shams-UD-Dean Sahu Khan, we are very grateful to Pillay Garments and their managing director Narendra Pillay. Pillay Garments has supported Fiji FA for a number of years and it goes to show their concern for the further development of football in Fiji,” Kumar said.
