And Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar is urging the local football fans to throw their support behind Lautoka.
“On this occasion Lautoka is representing Fiji not just there district. During the O-League Lautoka will be known as a district team from Fiji. Lautoka needs every possible support and well wishes to inspire them.
“In the last O-League season they did pretty well but were not able to qualify for the finals. Hopes are high this time around for the side to do better. Fiji FA’s well wishes and prayers are with the Lautoka side,” Kumar said.
Meanwhile Koloale skipper and lethal striker Benjamin Totori in an interview with Solomon Island Football Media stated that this Saturday’s encounter was more than just a fixture for his side.
“I believe that the team is playing for the Solomon Islands. I will be doing my best to get the result that we want and hope that the crowd will be out to back us as well,” Totori said.
Totori’s comments will sink well with a lot of football fans in Honiara who are looking for some redemption following Marist FC’s performance in the O-League last season.
Koloale had their third last training session today before their match against Lautoka this weekend with the former Waitakere United striker looking very sharp moving with speed and finishing well.
