No Ban on Vuvuzelas

Hundreds of fans turned out during the 2011 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Churchill Park in Lautoka with vuvuzelas which created a lively atmosphere. #Few turned up at the Fiji FA control room during the Fiji FACT requesting for a ban on the vuvuzelas but their request was outnumbered by the hundreds enjoying the festive atmosphere. #Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar confirmed the move. #“Vuvuzelas will not be banned,” he said. #“FIFA allowed the vuvuzelas at their World Cup event in South Africa. It will not be justified for Fiji FA to ban it in own local events to deny the fans. Vuvuzelas creates an environment which makes any event lively,” Kumar said. #Rewa on the other hand finally bagged the Vodafone Fiji FACT title following their close 1-0 victory over Labasa. #They walked away with$15,000 first prize money. Labasa received $4000 while the two losing semifinalist Nadi and Lautoka got $1000 each. #Rewa skipper Simione Tamanisau was named the best player of the tournament. Suva rep Esava was the best player of day one, Nadroga’s Eran Underwood day two, Peter Hughes of Ba day three and Lautoka’s Alvin Avinesh day four. #Fiji FA MEDIA # # #
