President’s Corner

Council Meeting#The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Council meeting last Saturday in Nadi was a very successful one. We had a very good turnout and the various districts came out in full support as a very lengthy and fruitful meeting took place. In my 20 years service with Fiji FA, I can say that this was the best council meeting ever. #The 2012 Fiji FA season will now start in November and run on till April with the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League. After April the three major tournaments along with club, challenge cups and futsal competition will be played. As for the beginning of 2012 other competitions as mentioned above will be played and the National League will begin in November. #Proposal#*A proposal will be presented during the annual Fiji FA congress in October. The idea is to have to three divisions of competitions next year that will be the Super Premier, Premier and senior division. Each premier and senior division district will be asked to present a five year plan from which the best five will gain an automatic entry in the Premier division. The remaining teams will be drafted to the senior division and at the end of each season will have a chance to qualify for the promotion/relegation series to gain entry into the Premier division. The bottom placed Super Premier district will face the Premier division winner in another promotion/relegation series. The idea is also to include the five premier district sides in the Vodafone Fiji FACT and Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament. #District Update#*Districts have been given two weeks to submit their quarterly reports. We would like to see how the district is progressing. Fiji FA will take action against districts that are not conducting their local league competition. Districts are also requested to utlise the services of Fiji FA Media and forward results and tables to see their club competitions promoted. #Technical Department #Former national rep Hussain Sahib has been appointed as the acting technical director. He will be based at the National football Academy in Ba. Claudio Canosa and Saiyad Ali are expected to be charged soon. We have passed the busy period and now can deal with the matter. #FIFA#After a meeting with FIFA representative Glenn Turner our goal project 3 has been approved. The third project will include a set of football pitches at the new Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva. FIFA has granted a sum of $500,000 US. The fourth goal project will be taken to Vanua Levu. # Fiji FA MEDIA# # # #
