Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar says they have been notified by the Oceania Football Confederation on the change.
He says the Lautoka-Hekari match will now take place on 15th January 2011.
Kumar adds that the move was to accommodate Papua New Guinea based Hekari United side that will be participating in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup in United Arab Emirates early next month.
Hekari play their opening Club World Cup match against host Al Wahda, December 8 at Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium.
“The change of the date was confirmed to us last night. This change came into place basically to assist Hekari for the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup.
“It would have been very difficult for Hekari to play on 4th December in Fiji and then travel to UAE to face Al Wahda four days later,” Kumar said.
Six Fijian players that include Malakai Tiwa, Pita Bolaitoga, Simione Tamanisau, Alvin Singh, Tuimasi Manuca and Osea Vakatalesau are currently part of the Hekari squad.
Lethal striker Vakatalesau remains the lone player from the lot who is yet to get his clearance to feature for Hekari United.
Hekari will be the first Pacific Island Nation to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup. They earned their rights after winning the 2009-2010 O-League competition. They beat New Zealand based Waitakere United in the final.
