New referees chairman conducts Meeting

First meeting took place at the Fiji FA headquarters in Suva last Thursday while the second at Prince Charles Park board room last Sunday.
The newly appointed chairman, has assured various changes are expected in the coming days to the operations of the Fiji FA referees committee.
“I believe the two meetings were very fruitful and both had good attendance with current and former referees present. Various issues were discussed including the operations of the Fiji FA referees association,” Chand said.
“At the meeting I made it very clear the direction we wanted to go in as far as referring is concerned. We want more new referees with the current ones to continue progressing with the help of the association. My aim is to see local referees officiate at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. We have officiated at age –group World Cup and the senior women’s.
It is about time we head towards the big stage.”
Chand, who is also a Fiji FA vice president said their immediate focus was on the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament.
“I have assigned the various referees development officers to visit their respective districts and update the players, team officials on the various laws and changes which have come about. We believe this will make players more aware of the laws of the game as they participate at the BOG,” Chand said.
