A 3pm kick-off was shifted to 4pm by the officials but later referee Rakesh Varman had no option but to abandon the match.
Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) competitions manager Jainendra Sukhu, confirmed that Suva be awarded three points and two goals. He said the Tavua side faced transport problems.
“Tavua was on their way to Suva and from what we have gathered is that there bus broke down. They boarded the second bus which also broke down. They requested for the match to be shifted further but we would have faced problems as the Stadium does not have lights to host night games.
“We could not have waited any longer so we decided to award the default win to Suva. Tavua president Shalen Roy was at the venue and stressed the problem. The league board after receiving a report from Tavua we will decide our move in the matter,” Sukhu said.
Meanwhile in the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix Southern Premier Division Football League two major upsets was the order of the day.
Skipper Levuka at home beat Royal Tea Tailevu North 2-0 and later Angel Gold Lami’s dream undefeated run came to an end.
A changed Eveready Vinz Works Ltd Tailevu Naitasiri side thumped Lami 3-0. Hoteshwar Padarath gave the Nausori-based side inside the first quarter of the match. Further two goals by Kaliova Tivula and substitute Umesh Sharma was enough for Tailevu Naitasiri.
