Presidents Corner

This new initiative is a new dawn for Fiji FA as it aims to provide a ray of hope and assurance to further boost to our youth development plans.
“Just Play” is an Oceania Football Confederation Programme designed for social development programme which is funded by Australian Government (Ausaid) and Union of European Football Association (UEFA). In this regard it is a pleasure for me to express Fiji FA’s gratitude to both. They have assisted the OFC countries a lot in the past and do trust will continue to do so.
The aim of the Just Play programme is simple. It is to use the beautiful game of football as a social development tool to promote sports within schools, promoting physical activity for primary-aged children while encouraging community involvement and healthy living. This programme is for holistic development of young people aged 6 – 12yrs fostering physical and emotional health and building valuable social connections which offer opportunities for young people to participate in sports and especially with other opportunities in their lives, such as promote education, health, inter- cultural dialogue and peace.
A total of 27 primary schools around Suva and Nausori are part of the pilot Just Play programme launch and the target is to reach out to 735 primary schools all over Fiji in the next five years and 75,000 children and 10,000 teachers in Fiji.
Mr. Yassir Janif has been given charge to manage the Just Play Programme in Fiji and on this note I would like to wish him well. His very positive presentation at the workshop in OFC was greatly acknowledged by the relevant authority.
Mr. Janif will be working closely with Fiji FA Technical Director Saiyad Ali in organising various workshops to train teachers and volunteers who will then conduct sessions around their zones.
Recently Fiji FA Technical Department conducted a Just Play Grassroots Course for Suva schools and communities. A total of 13 Schools were invited to be part of the course and two communities from around Suva area are currently in the Just Play Program. A rollout six-week training programme is currently implemented to the class-based school children and communities.
My humble request is for all to join hands and support this programme to make it the success that it deserves.
Accordingly, it is a duty for all of us, the children the parents, the teachers, the officials of Fiji FA and the District Associations and do trust the Ministry of Education to give this Programme the success and support that it deserves. After all Fiji FA has always supported and will continue to support all aspects of such development for the good and absolute benefit to our beloved country. I would like to thank the Ministry of Education and our Governement for all the support in such a project.
