Cyrus Singh gave Central a perfect start to the match with his 14th minute goal. Tavua College who beat Central during the round robin stage fought back and equalised through Viliame Nakau on the 39th minute.
At full time both sides were locked 1-1 and thus the match moved into extra time. Two minutes from penalty kicks Rusiate Materereqa broke the hearts of Tavua as he scored the winner.
Victrious Central College side coach Roneel Sharma says the 2011 Courts IDC has been a dream outing for them.
“Tavua College came in prepared but our boys performed better. We made a mistake in defence and let them into the game,” he said.
“We talked it over at full time. I told them that we had another 20 minutes and we had to achieve our aim within that time. I salute my boys. They have done it. It was the first
time that we qualified for the IDC. We reached the finals and won the trophy. It is a huge achievement.”
