The Labasa-based rep will be assisted by fellow defender Poasa Bainivalu and goal keeper Akuila Mateisuva who both have been named as vice-captains.
Makoe will lead out the national U20 side tomorrow afternoon as Fiji plays their opening match of the 2011 playoffs against Papua New Guinea.
The national U20 squad has been in camp since 2010. The squad featured in the 2010 Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League and the first half of the 2011 season. Players while in camp were also released for commitments with the district side.
Hopes are high for this side to go one better then the last U20 side which came back winless and team manager Sheik Ibrahim who was part of the last campaign knows what to expect.
“It will be an uphill battle for us but we are ready for our first match,” he said.
“PNG is an unknown team to us as we do not know much about them but we will take each game as it comes and then plan our next move. The boys have taken a positive approach and we are looking forward to a good outing.”
The U20 side wrapped up their preparations this week with coach Ravinesh Kumar working overtime to leave no stones unturned.
“The preparation basically has been wrapped up and our focus now is on PNG. I would like to thank the Fijian community here who has come out in full force to help this side create history,” Ibrahim said.
