Neil Emblen, Waitakere player/coach anticipates a memorable clash between the two sides.
“We welcome all supporters to Fred Taylor Park. Ba have had fantastic support here and are the Manchester United of Fiji. With Fijian star Roy Krishna in our team we hope the neutral Fijian support comes to support Waitakere as we have seen in the past since Roy came to NZ. It will be a great occasion and an experience to remember for all the players and supporters,” he said.
Emblen said his side will be focused to maintain their performance which saw them pick up few convincing victories in the O-League and NZ Football ASB Premiership.
“We will prepare as well as we can and give the champions of Fiji the respect they deserve. We will be looking to play like we did in our opening three games where we were defensively sound and lethal in attack.”
Coming off a 3-1 defeat at the hands of their fellow NZ side Auckland City over the weekend, Emblen is hoping that lessons have been learned for a positive outcome this Sunday.
“A club like Waitakere doesn’t taste defeats that often and I’m hoping the players will respond in the correct manner and be even more focused on Sunday,” he said.
Waitakere thumped AS Tefana of Tahiti 10-0 in their opening O-League clash last month at home. Lethal Fijian striker Krishna was on top of his game during that clash, scoring five goals.
