Rewa on Track

This comes as the Nausori-based side thumped Labasa 5-0 at Ratu Cakobau Park on Friday night. Last Friday night they defeated Ba at Govind Park 1-0.
The win puts Rewa on top of the standings with seven points which could further increase in their next match on Sunday against Savusavu.
Yogeshwar Singh, the Rewa Football Association president said the victory keeps them in the hunt to gain Rewa their first ever league title.
“It was a good win for Rewa as this keeps us in the running for the league title. It is too early to predict anything at the moment but Sunday’s match against Savusavu will be equally important as far as our chances are concerned,” Singh said.
“Labasa was a very young and energetic side. Our boys missed a lot of scoring opportunities but in the end a satisfying result for Rewa.”
Labasa were shell shocked early in the match when young Iosefo Verevou swinged a corner kick which saw only the back of the net. Three minutes later former Suva striker
Apisai Smith got his first goal for his new Rewa side.
Two goals down Labasa who welcomed back the services of Henry Dyer, Amit Kanihaiya and Taione Kerevanua managed to stop the Rewa crusade for a while before facing another blow when former Navua man Praneel Kumar put Rewa into the head 3-0.
A reasonable crowd had turned out to witness the week three clash and the Rewa fans were not disappointed as two more goals marked a perfect outing for Rewa playing their first home game of the new season.
In another match played on Friday, Navua came from behind via an Inia Boko goal to settle for a 1-1 draw against Savusavu.
The Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League continues on Saturday as Ba host Nadi at Govind Park, 3pm. The Ba U21 will also take on Nadi U21, 1pm.
