This comes as the side picked up their second straight victory in the competition earlier today when they handed Royal Tea Bua a 2-1 loss. On day one, Seaqaqa beat BIC Taveuni 2-0.
After a lack luster performance during last year’s playoffs, Seaqaqa is one side which for sure has learned their lessons and proving to be a handful for the other four oppositions this year.
While delighted with his side’s progress, Avinesh Prasad, the Seaqaqa Football Association President is not ready to jump the horse just yet.
“We have still got two tough games left against Dreketi and Nadogo which will decide our fate in this competition,” he said.
Against Bua today, Aporosa Daunivalu and Richard Dyer scored in each to help Seaqaqa secure a 2-1 victory. Bua in the first match of the day held Puma Dreketi to a 1-1 draw and against Seaqaqa they were not going to go down without a fight.
Pauliasi Vitale pulled one back for Bua but Seaqaqa held their defence line to deny Bua a second tie.
Seaqaqa President Prasad, believes the dedication and commitment from his players has been the key to their success so far.
“The whole team just got together during these playoffs. Due to vast distance of the players we were not able to train as a team but the boys did their own training and so far they are doing well. We are taking each tiny step at a time and in every match the boys are slowly gelling well together,” he said.
Puma Dreketi is another strong side at the Northern playoffs and is set to challenge Seaqaqa. Dreketi beat Nadogo 1-0, drew with Bua 1-1 and in their last match beat Taveuni 3-0.
Seaqaqa takes on Dreketi at 10.15am tomorrow morning, a match which might decide just who leads the race.
