Fiji Women in the final phase

Head coach Ramesh Sharma says the final squad to travel to NZ will be announced soon. He believes the next few days will be vital in covering their weak areas. The Nations Cup will be held from September 29 to 8 October at North Harbour Stadium in NZ.
“The National squad is currently in their final phase of training. We are working more on 90 minute game time and the squad is playing a lot of warm up games against the local club teams. I’m really pleased with how things are going so far but we need to utilize the time that we have left.
“The next few days we will be working on our final touches, finishing and various aspects of the game,” Sharma said.
The Nadroga based coach says the OFC Women’s Nations Cup will be a perfect exposure for the local players. Sharma added that their objective was to give their best for a good outcome.
“The Nations Cup will be a very good build up tournament for Fiji. The players will get good exposure and it will assist us in our preparation for the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia.
“The Nations Cup will be tough and results for us will be important. Heading to any tournament results will be very important but our objective is to give our best and work together for a good outcome,” Sharma said.
The National Women’s squad has been full time in camp since August. The OFC Women’s Nations Cup which will be held from September 29 to October 8 is also the playoffs for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
A total of eight teams will be part of the regional meet. Host and defending champions NZ will head Group A along with Cook Islands, Vanuatu and Tahiti. Fiji is in Group B with Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tonga.
