Rewa 2 Ba 1

The delta tigers beat Energizer Ba 2-1 in their opening clash of the 2011 Inkk Mobile B.O.G on Thursday night at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Rewa President Pranil Singh, said a win over traditional giants Ba is a perfect morale booster in their bid to retain the silverware.
“This is a very important win for the Rewa. A side like Ba is always tough to play and I guess a bit of pressure is off now with this victory,” he said.
Singh adds the win also ends a jinx which has haunted them for few seasons.
“The jinx is over now, Rewa has not been able to beat Ba in our own home ground for a while but we have proved that it is possible. We have still got a very long way to go in the B.O.G and our focus is on the upcoming matches.”
Player/coach Marika Rodu led by example as the homeside scored the opening goal. Rodu ‘s 40 yarder attempt on the 12th minute from near the left hand touch line found Ba goalie Ratu Jone Gasaubalavu napping.
Rewa led 1-0 at the break before Ratu Veresa Toma a regular goal scorer against Ba added yet another six minutes into the new half.
Ba did not have seem to have the fire power but Malakai Tiwa scored a consolation goal before they were reduced to 10-men.
Referee Rakesh Varman sent off Manueli Kalou who conceded a second yellow card.
Homeside Rewa will be in a tough battle in their next match against the highflying Skippy Labasa side who so far have won both their matches.
