Roderick sets his focus

The 19-year old was recently part of the Bridge Night Club Tailevu/Naitasiri side which won the 2010 Courts Inter District Premier division championship.
With the premier division season over the former Rewa rep has set his sights on a berth in the National U-20 training squad.
“My immediate goal is to make the U-20 training squad and then later work my way up to the senior National side,” he said.
“I’m not doing anything besides playing football. Most of my time is occupied in doing my personal training like the early morning runs and maintaining my fitness level. I only hope that one day I will be able to secure an overseas contract,” he said.
Singh revealed on his move earlier this season from Rewa to Tailevu/Naitasiri.
“It is nothing personal. Rewa is a good district and that is where I became what I’ am today. I learned my football in Rewa and I would like to thank Mr. Marika Rodu who guided and helped me get better.
“The movement was not about the money. I had once promised Suresh Kumar a vice president of Tailevu/Naitasiri that I would play for them some day and I had to be a man of my words,” Singh said.
With the Courts IDC Premier title in the bag the young striker says more hard work is needed ahead.
“I will try my best to help Tailevu Naitasiri be promoted to the Super Premier division in 2012,” he said.
