This comes after the Savusavu-based school teacher passed a fitness test earlier today.
Vulivuli will now head the OFC trio and be assisted by New Zealand’s Jacqui Stephenson and Tonga’s Lata Tuifutuna who also sailed through the fitness testing.
Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Referees Director Chandra Segran says the news is positive. He added that Vulivuli was a step closer in achieving her ultimate goal of officiating at the 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany.
“Fiji Football is proud of the achievements of Finau Vulivuli. At a young age she has progressed well. We were confident all along that she would pass this fitness test and officiate at the U-17 Womens World Cup.
“This is yet another stepping stone for her and a step closer of making it to the 2011 Womens World Cup in Germany. I would like to wish her all the best and hope that she continues to progress.
“The U-17 Womens World Cup starts next week and we will be closely keeping an eye on her but we are confident she will excel at this event,” Segran said.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Bob Kumar echoed similar sentiments.
“Our referees continue to put Fiji’s name on top. Just recently we had Ravinesh Kumar at the Youth Olympics in Singapore and now Finau has passed the fitness test to officiate at this U-17 event.
“We are proud of her achievements and this comes to show that our development programmes are right on track,” Kumar said.
The U-17 Womens World Cup will be held from 5-25 September.
