Football legends bound for Fiji

Negotiations are underway by Fiji Football Association to orgainse two international exhibition matches for our national senior men’s side against the Play Fair Brazil team that is made up of a number of former prominent Brazilian National footballers.
The Brazil Fair Play team travels the world to promote goodwill practice through football and assist raise the competitive level of the game in the country by largely playing national team and will be stopping in Fiji for over four days before departing for their Asia tour.
The tour is scheduled from August 21-26, 2012 and will provide Fiji FA and the local fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to see some legends.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said further discussion will take place this Saturday during their board of control meeting in Ba.
“This is an ideal opportunity for Fiji FA and the fans to witness some international stars. Negotiations are still underway and if we are successful that it be a very postive move for football in Fiji,” Patel said.
Prominent stars in the Brazil Fair Play team are as follows:
*Marcos Moraes or better known as ‘Cafu’ is regarded as one of the greatest right backs. He has played with Roma and Milan is most internationally capped Brazilian player with 142 caps and 21 World Cup appearances. He has won two FIFA World Cup’s in 1994 and 2002.
*Paulo Sergio Paulo Sérgio Silvestre do Nascimento was part of the Brazilian team which won the 1994 World Cup in USA.
* Ze Carlos known as Jose Carlos de Almeida right winger for Sao Paulo played for Brazil 1998 World Cup in France
*Giovanni S. de Oliveira better known as Giovanni player as a forward for Santos, Barcelona, Olympiacos, Al Hilal and for Brazil in 1998 World Cup in France
*Marcelo Jose’Bordon defender for Sao Paulo, Stuggart and Schalke 04, Al Rayyan and Brazil
*Andrei Frascarelli also played defender for Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense, Atletico de Madrid and Betis (Spain), Santos and Brazil.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar said more details will be released next week.
