Goal II Project deal sealed

Fiji FA’s second goal project which is worth two million, nine hundred and five thousand dollars ($2000000, 905,000.00) is expected to be completed next year with the inauguration planned for April.
FIFA development officer Glenn Turner was in attendance along with Fiji FA President Dr.Muhammed Shams-UD-Dean Sahu Khan.
FIFA has pumped in US $500,000.00 for Fiji’s second goal project while the rest of the cost will be accommodated by Fiji FA.
Dr. Sahu Khan revealed that the new project which in its second phase will also house the Fiji FA headquarters.
“This is a milestone for Fiji FA and a wonderful project that we are going to embark on. This is the second goal project which FIFA has approved. There were some difficulties which now have been overcome.
“The full value of this project is $2million, nine hundred and five thousand of which FIFA has provided part of the funds. My gratitude also goes to the Minister of Sports and the Fiji Government for assisting us in getting a loan from Fiji Development Bank by giving a recommendation letter.
“We are grateful to the contractor who had started work in February of course we had paid part of the payment through our own resources. Fiji FA is thankful to Mr. Glenn Turner who has assisted us or otherwise probably the project would have been cancelled,”
“The new project will house the Fiji FA headquarters along with a futsal pitch, accommodation and a training pitch,”Dr. Sahu Khan said.
Turner on the other hand says various factors had to be taken care before the project was given the green light to start earlier this year.
“The Fiji project was a bit difficult; you are talking about three years of patience. The first problem was finding the landsite and secondly devaluation of the dollar where every month was a different story. After a complex situation it was not a question about being patience but everything done correctly and Fiji is very lucky to have an architect (Design Hut) and contractor company (Fortech) that has progressed to this stage.
“I’m pleased that it is finally completed finally to put a signature on the contract,” Turner said.
