2011 the focus now

Saiyad Ali the Fiji FA Technical Director says a Western, Northern and Southern team will be selected which will then participate in various local competitions around their zones.
Ali added that the three zonal teams will then clash against each other from which the selectors will finalize a National training Squad for the World Cup (WC) playoffs.
“We used the 2010 OFC Futsal Championship as a build for the WC playoffs. Now our next step will be to select three zonal teams which we will enter into various local competitions. Later in the year the three zonal teams will play each other from which we will select a National squad,” he said.
And the Fiji FA Technical Director says a tour to Australia was also lined up for January 2011 which he believes will further boost the National side in their preparation for the WC playoffs.
“A tour to Australia is also planned for January and then later the final team to represent Fiji at the 2011 WC playoffs will be named,” Ali said.
Under the guidance of coach Hussein Sahib Fiji finished second in the 2010 OFC Futsal Championship. Fiji won four of their matches against New Caledonia, Tahiti, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
The National side lost to New Zealand and overall winners Solomon Islands. Venue for the WC playoffs is yet to be decided. One of four countries that are New Caledonia, Kiribati, New Zealand and Fiji will gain the right to host.
A decision on the venue will be made later this year.
