The Fiji FACT has been one title that has evaded Rewa’s grasp since the inception of the first of three Fiji Football Association major tournaments in 1991.
It was none other than Solomon Islander James Naka who just two years ago guided Navua to the Vodafone Fiji FACT title victory by scoring the winning goal. This time around in Rewa colours Naka struck in the second half for a close 1-0 victory over Labasa.
Rewa president Pranil Singh says revealed the secret formula.
“My secret for success is unity amongest the players and officials which sees victories after victories,” he said.
The Vodafone Fiji FACT title will be placed in the delta tiger’s trophy cabinet alongside the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants, Courts Inter District Championship and Pillay Garments Champions League.
“We had an objective and a plan for the Fiji FACT. We have won the IDC, BOG but the Fiji FACT was the title which evaded us. On this note I would like to thank the players and officials who put in a lot of effort to pull this one off,” he said.
Rewa coach/player Marika Rodu says they were determined for a positive outing.
“From the first day we meant business and we made it to the final and won. In the final I saw the Labasa team not playing their fast paced game and that was to our advantage. The boys made sure we kill their speed down,” he said.
