And the home side who currently are with six points after two matches face various setbacks ahead of their crucial encounter against Hekari United side that recently represented the Oceania region in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup.
Lautoka head coach Gurjit Singh says their top local players with the likes of forwards Valerio Nawatu, Jone Vono Junior, Marika Madigi, defenders Samuela Kautoga and Ilaitia Tuilau will not be considered for this Saturday’s encounter which kicks off 3pm.
“Our preparation firstly has been affected by the recent rainy weather conditions and with various players not turning up for training. Those who have not turned up will not be considered for this match and I believe this gives other players a chance to step up,” he said.
Despite the absence Lautoka will now have to rely on talents like Kamal Hassan, Alvin Avinesh and Malakai Waqa to lead the charge.
Singh says five overseas based players, Solomon Islander Judd Molea, Nigerian Sanni Issa , Australian trio Daniel Severino, James Nicholas and Nahuel Arrarte have been eyed by Lautoka for this match.
The western based giants are out to maintain their unbeaten run in the 2010-2011 O-League season but Singh believes Hekari will be no walk over.
“Hekari is a very good side and will be a very tough side to beat. Their players have been exposed to some top level football and they have Fijian players who know our style of play. Losing is not an option for us as even a point from a draw would see us leading the group,” he said.
Lautoka beat Koloale 2-1 and later Amicale of Vanuatu 1-0 at Govind Park.
Meanwhile the Hekari side arrived this morning in the country.
