New Fiji FA facility Opened

The new facility is built as part of the FIFA goal project scheme, it will house the new Fiji FA headquarters and regional training centre.
Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) president David Chung was the chief guest at the function.
Fiji’s Attorney General Mr Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was the guest of honour. FIFA development officer Glenn Turner was also in attendance.
Chung in his address said this was a milestone achievement for Fiji FA and the OFC as football continues to progress in this region.
“This is yet another milestone achievement for football in Fiji an in particular the capital city of Suva. This new tremendous facility will be benefiting for both administrative, management and technical development of football in the country, particularly grassroots and youths in this region,” Chung said.
“The OFC has continued to progress along with our member association both on and off the field. We have 40 infrastructures in Oceania under the FIFA goal project programme which includes many national headquarters academy and pitches.”
The OFC President said the challenge was on Fiji FA to utilse this new facility.
“The challenge is very clear infrastructure alone cannot develop the game. The fine facilities must be matched by good technical programmes with grassroots and youth programmes,”he said.
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said football in Fiji is the winner with the sucussful completion of their second FIFA Goal project.
“The inauguration marks a milestone achievement for Fiji FA. The second goal project now gives us a chance to further develop football in the country and accommodate more needs of the various national sides. To produce elite footballers we need to set the right platform for them,” Patel said.
“I would like to thank all individuals who have worked tirelessly to assit the national football body on this achievement. Not forgetting world football governing body FIFA and its President Joseph S Blatter who gave the green light and together with Fiji Football Association accommodated for the cost for the $2.9million project.I would also like to thank the GM and the chief executive officer of Fiji Development Bank which approved the loan which indeed assisted us to add further to FIFA’s grant and seeing this project off the ground. “
“Mr. Glen Turner the FIFA development manager has worked closely with Fiji Football Association to seeing us getting the approval for our second goal project and also seeing the project through to the completion. And we are proud to say that FIFA has approved a third goal project which will be a football pitch at the new headquarters. “
“As Fiji Football Association continues to grow we hope that at the end of the day football will further grow and soon we will achieve our dream of featuring at the top stage.”
New facility will house the new Fiji Football Association headquarters, training facilities, accommodation and dining facilities.
