Presidents Corner

A Big Thanks to our Government
We are, thankful to the Fiji Government , which has given us duty concession for the FIFA Goal three project in Suva on the equipment for the project which will see a international pitch at the new headquarters in Vatuwaqa.
On behalf of the Fiji FA family I would like to thank Minister for Youth and Sports Commander Viliame Naupoto and to Acting Minister of Finance, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
We are also thankful to the Government Ministers for looking after sports in general specially Fiji Football.
This is the first time we have got it and we look forward for this partnership in future as we got FIFA courses, development balls and all those things which we previously paid duty for, to come under special grant for development of sports.
Special Congress
The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) special congress was held last Sunday at the Fun World Plaza Hotel in Nadi.
The objective of the special congress was to rectify the council and the league board decision.
All the motions were agreed unanimously and approved.
This is something that we are really happy and will help us move to a new direction where Fiji Football Association, district association, the sponsors and the football in general in Fiji benefits from it too.

The super eight motion has been passed and special congress has rectified it and there will be automatic promotion/ relegation from the last team once the eight team format comes into place.

The bottom two teams from this season in the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Football League will be relegated to the premier division.

This is something which is beneficial to premier districts to climb up the ladder.

But the option is opened for the premier districts if they feel if they don’t want to get promoted, likewise it happened before to Nadogo, they didn’t want to be in the Super
Premier then the last team of the super premier division stays and vice versa.

Eight team formats will come in place after the National League series 2012/2013.
We will be setting the cut off dates for Inkk Mobile BOG when the board meets.
For Vodafone Fiji FACT we are looking at 30th April for cut off date for Vodafone Fiji FACT.

Pacific Cup
The Pacific Cup tournament has been passed to be played in New Zealand again.

After a big financial loss last season we have decided to go back to New Zealand to make sure they can recover the loss and all glitches that happened last year can be corrected and so everybody at the end of the day is a winner and specially Football.

Vodafone Fiji FACT

The reason why the Vodafone Fiji Fact will not be held in Labasa is not because Fiji Football Association did not want to. We had promised and we had written letters to the Labasa Town Council.

Apparently, the ground is not available due to some function but at the end of the day it will a huge loss for the football fans in Labasa & Fiji.

We cannot change the date as the calendar is very tight we have to do the Vodafone Fiji FACT, Inkk mobile BOG, Courts IDC and the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Football League in a short span which we have got this year because of the abiding of the season changes with the Oceania and FIFA and that is the reason we have decided that first round of the will be played at ANZ stadium in Suva, we are working with them and this will be a testing time for the sports council to come up with Fiji Football to solve their minor issues which we had with them in the past and if they come on board with Fiji FA with the first round of Vodafone Fiji FACT and then we will look at bringing a tournament to Suva., in Future.

The first round will be played at ANZ stadium in Suva and final rounds will be played at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Inkk mobile BOG dates have been set and it is very difficult to take it to Labasa .
Our CEO had written letters to Labasa Town Council and we wanted to take football everywhere but if the ground is not available what we can do.

One World Flight Centre Awards Night
We have got a problem in the annual awards as the districts have not nominated more players and officials.
We will be making amendments and as of next year, the board of control will nominate 3 or more members to add to the formidable competition if there is only one or two nominee for a particular category.
I would like to thank OneWorld Flight Centre for continuing this awards night and we are happy we got a good relationship and look for a similar support in the many more years to come.
