“I visited Fiji earlier this year. On my journey between Nadi to Suva we passed through many small villages and on few occasions noticed youngsters carrying boots with them. It seemed to me that they obviously treasured them.
“My son during this time was working after school for a boot manufacturer Nomis in Brisbane. I then decided it would be a good idea for Hawker Siddeley Switchgear to donate some boots to Fiji,” T. J Smith the managing director of Hawker Siddeley Switchgear said.
Last Wednesday T.J Smith’s wife Kim and son Christian were at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Suva to do the honours.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar says this assistance which was targeted for youth players will go down a long way in assisting in the development of football.
“We whole heartedly like to thank Hawker Siddeley Switchgear, especially their managing director T.J Smith. I like to assure that these boots will be put to very good use,” Kumar said.
