Fiji FA’ s Tribute

It is with great sadness that we have all learned of the sudden passing away of our most respected leader of Fiji , former President Turaga Ni Tui Vuda Ratu Josefa Iloilo Uluivuda.
Fiji FA and I had great respect for this great man who has served our country not only with distinction but in great humbleness.
No matter how important a person was or unimportant a person was, he always showed respect to everyone alike. I really appreciated him to have accepted our invitation to be the Chief Guest at Churchill Park when our Fiji national team played the Indian National team.
At that stage he fatherly advised that he gave us in our discussion at the Churchill Park will never be forgotten. He always taught us and which we have always followed but whatever we do we must put our country first. He was very proud about the development of football in Fiji and I was pleasantly surprised as to how much he knew of affairs concerning Fiji Football. We very sadly miss this great man who was not only a very high chief, a very important person but father to us.
Accordingly as a sign of respect Fiji FA has postponed the final round of the Pillay Garments Champions League . It was to be played on Lautoka on Friday 11th of February also we had postponed the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), FIFA of the formal launching of the Just Play programme.
Furthermore the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League opening was to take place at Govind Park in Ba on Sunday 13th of February has been shifted as we do not want to have a grand opening taking place in the Ba province.
This is a tribute to our great leader and son of Fiji. We join hands and pray to the Almighty to let the soul of our great man rest in peace
