Rewa beat Lautoka 1-0, Navua thumped Tavua 4-1 and Suva held Ba 0-0. Rewa looks the side to beat at the 2010 Courts IDC.
The AIRPRO Services sponsored side edged giants Shop N Save Lautoka 1-0 in their second match of the 2010 Courts IDC. Earlier on Friday morning they beat tournament favourites Ba 1-0.
The Solomon connection seems to functioning for the Delta Tigers as they Abraham Iniga scored against Lautoka while James Naka upset Ba. Naka was also awarded the best player award od day one.
Rewa made a strong start to the match and had a golden scoring opportunity but were caught offside. In the 16th Iniga found himself in the clear only to neatly cross a shot through Lautoka goalie that left his mark.
Coach Manoj Kumar says the aim is not to lose focus with two matches remaining.
“We have got two matches remaining and we cannot underestimate Nasinu and Suva. Rewa will be out for maximum points to see that we qualify for the semi finals,” Kumar said.
Lautoka coach Bob Ganesh is optimistic his blues side will bounce back.
“I’m pretty sure that we will bounce back. It took us two days to play our first match due to the weather and the boys seem to lose their focus but next match will be very crucial for us,” he said.
Rewa faces Nasinu tomorrow in their third match of the 2010 Courts IDC at 11.30am. A victory over Nasinu is surely to book them a spot in the playoffs next weekend and see them top Pool Two.
Suva put up a good show for their fans to hold Ba 0-0. Their President Mahen Prasad says his side looks to be on track.
“I’m sure that we will be able to qualify for the playoffs. One win and a draw put us in a good position,” Prasad said.
Ba coach Farouk Janeman says they now focus on their next match.
“It is back to the drawing board for us. Tomorrow is another day and another match,” Janeman said.
In the other match played today Nadi-Labasa played to a 0-0 tie.
