Message from the Fiji Football Association President

Greetings to all
It is indeed a pleasure to welcome you all for the 2012 Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament. After the successful staging of the first round of matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka last weekend, Nausori is our next stop as Ratu Cakobau Park hosts the remainder of this prestigious event.
Vodafone Fiji FACT has over the years grown from strength to strength and now become one of the most anticipated events in the Fiji Football Association calendar.
On behalf of my board of control I would like to apologise to the football fans in the Western divsion.
The Vodafone Fiji FACT was scheduled to take place at Churchill Park and later we had to move the tournament.
An honest fact is that Fiji FA needs funds for its operation and it is tournaments of this nature which helps us survive. The Fiji FA board felt that with the recent natural disasters badly damaging most parts of the Western division it would not have been an ideal time to host an event.
We are aware of the disappointments but on the other hand fans got the chance to witness first four matches and as Fiji FA board decided a fortnight ago that Lautoka will now host the 2012 Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants.
On this note Ratu Cakobau Park now has the opportunity to carry on their success from last year. Nausori Town Council has been very supportive and overall we are anticipating a successful event.
Vodafone is back with Fiji FA and pleasing to see that they have decided to continue with their sponsorship.
Vodafone has been a strong partner with Fiji FA and I would like to see our relationship grow in the many more years to come. A big Vinaka Vakalevu to our major sponsors who time after time have come on board to back the progress of football in the country.
The onus will be on Rewa to defend the title at home and I’m sure they will give their best to make their fans proud. Others teams will come well prepared and we hope to see good display of football this weekend.
To the players thank you for the hard work and dedication. To the officials and players of the participating sides my humble request is to show good sportsmanship and have pride
for the district they are representing. This is a perfect stage to showcase their talent so make the most of it.
To the general public you are our most valuable asset. You have come out over the years and made this event successful and we hope to see you again this year.
I will not be present at the Vodafone Fiji FACT as I will be away overseas but my good wishes are with everyone and I’m sure a memorable event awaits us.
Thank You.
