Chairman Yogeshwar Singh said any affiliated member failing to meet these requirements will be relegated.
Singh said the league board meeting held last Sunday at the Fiji FA new headquarters in Vatuwaqa was a good opportunity to discuss on the new 2012 league season.
“The U-21 league as stated by the Fiji FA board will take place and districts associations are required to participate. Any district failing to prepare a U21 side will be relegated and made an associate member of Fiji FA,” Singh said.
“Fiji FA is concerned about the development of football in the country. Often players when they leave schools there is no competition for the U21 age group so the Fiji FA board felt that the U21 league will be an ideal way to keep these players in the game. They also later on will be an asset for the respective district sides and they will not need to recruit players from elsewhere.”
The U21 league will start in the 2012 season with the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League season.
Right people must take Charge: Ibrahim
Capable individuals need to take charge of the various district associations around the country says Acting Fiji Football Association president Shiek Ibrahim.
The Fiji FA senior vice-president who has stepped in the role of acting president in the absence of Rajesh Patel made the comments during the National League Board meeting held at the Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva last Sunday.
Ibrahim believes lacking quality individuals has been a major downfall for some football districts in the country.
“If any district association official is facing problems or is not able to cope up with running the affairs then he should step side and make way for someone who has the ability to, “Ibrahim said.
“Often we hear complaints from some officials that they are facing problems. This is in the end goes to affect the progress of football in the district and this is not on as the district side is later affected.”
The Acting Fiji FA president also urged district officials to promote their district associations.
“Often we read or hear comments in the media whereby district officials say this or that particular player will not play but later the player is in action. News on of this sort sometimes puts off the fans. I urge the districts to refrain from such comments and indeed give the public a true picture,” Ibrahim said.
The 2012 Fiji FA season will start in early January with the Pillay Garments Champions League at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Naita hosts Nadroga first
Tailevu Naitasiri will host the first leg of the promotion/relegation series against super premier side Nadroga early next season.
The Nausori-based side won a coin toss during the Fiji Football Association league board meeting last Sunday in Suva and opted to play at home first up.
Yogeshwar Singh, the league board chairman said Tailevu Naitasiri has confirmed to host the first match on January 8, 2012 3pm at the TFL National Stadium in Suva. Nadroga will then host the second and final leg on the following weekend.
A motion will need to be brought in by the affiliates at the special extra ordinary congress scheduled for next year if they are still interested in the 12-team format.
Singh 12-team format will come into place in the 2013 season if districts agree to adopt the new format at the special congress.
