Ali praises players for commitment

The Bargain Box-sponsored Ba football side will take on Farmtrac Tractors Labasa FC in the second semi-final of the 2022 Punjas Battle of the Giants Tournament at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The Men-in-Black were the first team to confirm a spot in the semi-finals after a win against Lautoka and Rewa but they were beaten by defending champions Rewa 1-0 in the final group B match.

Head coach Imdad Ali the discipline and commitment of players were the key to their strength in the tournament.

“Our players showed a lot of commitment and confidence as we are in the development phase,”

“This is a new Ba team and I am proud of the outcome in the BOG,” said Ali

Ali said the boys played their hearts out against Lautoka, Navua, and Rewa but it has taken a long time to get there.

“Rome was not built in a day, it took a lot of development, and even then the development is not over yet,”

“It is one of those things we have to do as coaches, rather than buying players.

“We lost six key players ahead of this tournament, and as coaches, we need to build our own players.”

Despite the loss against Rewa in the final group B match, Ali is confident the team will do wonders in the 43rd edition of the Punjas BOG.

The match kicks off at 4.30 pm this Saturday.
