The Fiji FA President’s Five will have to win against Tonga today to keep their hopes alive for the knock-out stages of the OFC Futsal 2022.
The side suffered a 1-5 defeat to an experience New Zealand side in its opening match last night at Vodafone Arena in Suva.
New Zealand came out with three unanswered second-half goals to win the game against the Fiji Development side.
The Futsal Whites led 2-1 at the break after opening the scoring two minutes in through Rahan Ali, and adding a second just before half-time when Ethan Martin drove the ball across the goal for Sean McIntee to finish with a clever reverse shot with his right foot.
In between that Ravneel Pal scored for the Fiji.
A stunning overhead strike from Jordan Ditfort and further goals from Ali and Hamish Grey in the second period saw New Zealand to victory.
Fiji FA Presidents Five will play Tonga at 1 pm today and their final group A match will be against Vanuatu on Friday at 1pm.
