600 kids join Rabi program

More than 600 children will enjoy the Fiji FA Just Play Program which was launched in the island of Rabi and Kioa last weekend.

Fiji FA Just Play manager Lavenia Yalovi said sixteen teachers and three head teachers were equipped with knowledge and skills to educate children in the newly implemented Just Play program for children six to twelve years.

“This is the first ever program which is implemented in Rabi and Kioa Island which will see the children in the island enjoy the Just Play program which focuses on Health & Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) thematic area, “said Yalovi.

Yalovi said they were praised for their effort in bringing the program in the Island.

“The people in the island were so happy to receive us as we were the first organization to reach to the island.”

She said the main objective was to develop and improve a child’s social and life skills.

“By helping to guide the way children learn, grow and explore the world around them, we are teaching them to make conscious food and drink choices, develop respect, drive behavior change around sanitation and hygiene and vital life skills through fun and interactive football sessions”.,” program manager Lavenia Yalovi said.

Banaban Primary School teacher Roiti Marewenibuariki said she would be implement the program in her Physical Education curriculum.

“I am looking forward to use my knowledge in our PE classes as I have learnt new ways to deliver educational messages through fun football activities to our children,” said Marewenibuariki

She was confident the progam would be loved by the children.

“We are blessed to receive the equipment provided by the Fiji FA Just Play team which will for sure bring smiles on the faces to our children during the activities,” said Marewenibuariki

The program was developed and managed by the Oceania Football Confederation with support from the Australian Government, the Football Federation of Australia, the New Zealand Government, UNICEF and the Union of European Football Association (through the UEFA foundation for Children).
