60 players attend trials

More than Sixty players attended the trials for the Fiji South U15 and U19 team for the 2019 Fiji Cup Tournament to be held next week in Ba.

Fiji South head coach Tagi Vonolagi was impressed with the number of participants during the trials.

“I am really impressed to see the number of players here today (Thursday) attending the trials, “said Vonolagi.

 “We have so many talents here in South as we can see their passion and love for football,”

“Unfortunately we cannot select all the players but we will choose the best 18 players in both the categories.”

The former national rep said the selected players would march into camp on Wednesday.

“Both our south team will march into camp on Wednesday to prepare for the 2019 Fiji Cup Tournament for the Fiji South side.For the first time the team will camp at Krishna Janardhan Primary School in Tailevu,”

The former goalkeeper said some of the players could also be part of the National U16 and U19 teams.

“We will also select players for the national U16 and U19 teams from the tournament and I am sure some of the south players will definitely make it to the team “said Vonolagi.

The Fiji South U16 team will be coached by Northland Tailevu coach Kritesh Prasad while U19 will be mentored by Rewa Youth coach Raju Goundar.

The Fiji Cup tournament will be held in Ba from December 2-7.
