Twenty-Six goals were scored at this year’s Rooster Chicken/Scoop Ice Battle of the Giants Tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
On Day One, Concrete Dynamic Limited / Rams Cleaning Services Suva FC won 1-0 against Extra Supermarket with a goal from Ravinesh Karan Singh.
Bargain Box Lautoka FC and Southern Forest Navua FC played to a 1-all draw in the second match. Sairusi Nalaubu scored for the Blues while Zainal Alu netted for Navua.
The Extra Supermarket Labasa FC vs Rooster Chicken Ba FC and Esy Kool / Star Pools / Ranvis Nadi FC vs Security Systems Management Inc. / Oceania Fiberglass PTE Ltd Tailevu Naitasiri FC matches were postponed due to a power outage on Friday in the whole of Viti Levu.
On Day Two in Group A, Navua and Tailevu Naitasiri ended with a nil-all draw while Lautoka won 3-1 over Nadi. Vuniuci Tikomaimereke scored for Nadi while Alfraz Ali, Saula Waqa, and Usman Omede netted for Lautoka.
In Group B, Rewa won 1-0 over Labasa with a goal from Setareki Hugues and Suva won 3-0 against Ba. Azariah Soromon scored a double for Suva while Samuela Drudru scored one goal.
On Day Three, Labasa won 2-0 against Suva with goals from Ilisoni Lolaivalu and Christopher Wasasasala.
Rewa overcame Ba FC 3-1 with goals from Epeli Valevou, Abbu Zahid and Avorosi Rabi while Gulam Rasool scored for the Men-in-Black.
Lautoka FC walloped Tailevu Naitasiri 5-1 and Navua won 2-1 against Nadi.
Sairusi Nalaubu scored a hat trick while Poasa Bainivalu and Aporosa Yada netted a goal each for Lautoka and France Catarogo scored for Tailevu Naitasiri.
Meanwhile, Lautoka FC and Navua FC have qualified for the semi-finals from Group A while the Group B winner and runner-up will depend on the match between Labasa FC and Ba FC.
Suva, Labasa and Rewa have an equal chance to qualify while Ba is out after two losses.
Labasa will need to beat Ba with two clear goals to advance to the semi-finals and if that happens the other team from Group B will be decided on fair play rules as Suva and Rewa both are equal on all the points.
The Labasa vs Ba and Tailevu Naitasiri vs Nadi match will be played on September 15 while the semi-finals will be played on September 16 and final on September 17 at a venue yet to be confirmed.
