2021 competitions calendar rescheduled

The Fiji Football Association has rescheduled its calendar for season 2021.

Chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says considering the aftermath of TC Yasa and TC Ana, Fiji FA Board has decided to move the competition forward.

“The Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion two-match series will now be played at the ANZ Stadium in Suva with the first leg on Friday February 19 and second leg on Sunday 21,” said Yusuf.

“Subrail Park has sustained massive damages as well as Ratu Cakobau Park, so we have to move both legs to Suva.”

Yusuf said this would allow the Labasa football family to recover from the recent flooding.

“This three weeks will give Labasa to recover and prepare for the championship,” said Yusuf.

Yusuf confirmed the Vodafone Premier League (VPL) would start this month end.

“The VPL will start on Saturday, February 27 between Ba and Labasa and on Sunday at Churchill Park, Lautoka will host Navua, Nadroga will face Nadi at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka while Rewa is scheduled to host Suva,” said Yusuf.

The Women’s Super League will kickoff the same weekend.

“The Women’s Super League will be played as curtain raisers at some of the VPL match venues.”

The launching of the Women’s Super League will be done on Saturday, February 20, in Suva.

Yusuf mentioned that the age group national league for boys and girls and women’s senior league would start in March.

“There will be no changes of the major tournament dates,” Yusuf confirmed.
