More than 100 girls participated in a one-day football festival at the Bidesi Park in Suva last Saturday.
Fiji FA Just Play coordinator Filomena Liku says the girl’s football festival was organised by the Fiji FA Just Play Team, Technical Development Team and OFC.
“This wat to empower young girls to develop through football.”
“It was good to see girls showing interest and enjoying the fun games, football skills and small-sided games,” said Liku
“There were 100 plus young girls with few young boys participated in the festival.
She said the main objective of the festival was to help the young girls develop their skills in football and empowered them to advocate as agents of change in supporting the development of positive behavior practices through the Just Play social messages.
“The stations had different social messages that teach children how to “Be active, stay healthy” & “Be a WASH champion” with football skills of dribbling, accurate passing, shooting and ball controlling.”
“The young girls/boys enjoy the festival with a smiling face. It ended on a high note where the organisers ask Q & A and distribute giveaways to all that participate.
“Acknowledgement goes out to our Financial Partners, OFC, Fiji Football Association, Team Up Partners, Just Play Team, Volunteers and everyone that work hand in hand to deliver a successful festival to our future heroes.”
