Pratap accepts Fiji FACT final defeat

The Suva Football Association president Ritesh Pratap has accepted the 2-1 defeat to Nadi in the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2019 final at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

After being unbeaten in pool matches and beating Ba 5-4 in the semifinal, the Capital City Boys were already looking forward to their third consecutive final after featuring in the 2018 Inkk Mobile Battle of Giants and Courts Inter District Championship 2018 final.

They started the final on a great note with Filipe Baravilala getting the first goal in the 10th minute of first half.

Pratap said they faded away in the second half.

“We really played well in the first, but I don’t know what went wrong in the second half,” he said.

“We faded away in the second half.

“We started to give away possession and that’s where things went against us.”

However, he said they have accepted the defeat in good sportsmanship as there is only one winner at the end.

“Nevertheless, in the game of football, one has to win and one has to lose.

“In good sportsmanship, we have taken the defeat.

“We will keep our heads high and work from here now.”
