Presidents Corner

By Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel

Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel.

Greetings to all

Ba wins league

I would like to congratulate the 4R Electrical Ba side for winning the 2012 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League.

Ba will play their last game against Tavua following which they will authoritatively be crowned the 2012 national champions.

The 2012 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League was a very close contested season as it was not until the final two rounds when it came down to Suva and Ba.

On this note I would like to show gratitude to sponsors CJ Patel Group for their continued support towards our league competition, without whom this competition would not have been possible and look forward for continued support for 2012/2013 season.

To all the participating teams thank you for your cooperation. With a series of bad weather it was difficult to carry out games but the teams worked hand in hand with us to see the competition reach its finale.

The Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League concludes this weekend and we hope for a similar support in the new season which starts in December and expect it to be much bigger and better.

Rakiraki-Tailevu Naitasiri

Rakiraki football association wrote to Fiji FA and urged that the away goal rule should apply for the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries Viti Levu playoffs and a third leg should not be played.

Taking this into consideration I directed the national league board to adjourn the match.

While being advised by my chief executive officer Bob Kumar that the law states that it is up to the organiser of the competition to decide on the away goal ruling or a third leg, I felt that we required to study the legality and relook at the laws in order to make a fair ruling.

The verdict will soon be known.

Dewan Chand

A lot has been said concerning Fiji FA vice president Dewan Chand. I will not be making any remarks at the moment but will do so in due course once the Fiji FA board members are consulted. It is a matter for the board to discuss and an applicable statement will subsequently be made, as his legal avenues have not been exhausted.

2012 Courts Inter District Championship

Fiji FA is now preparing for the 2012 Courts Inter District Championship. The final 22 member registrations will close on October 2, 2012. I would like to urge all the participating teams to get their registration in order to avoid being penalised, and as mentioned before this has to be followed and objections to be made before Courts IDC starts , as no protests will be entertained during matches , unless card offenses are overlooked.

All the best Finau
I would like to congratulate Finau Vulivuli who will be officiating at the 2012 U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This is yet another milestone achievement for football in Fiji and I hope she will do us all proud.
